2011 Tennessee Open March 4th – 6th 2011
2011 Illinois State Open April 2nd – 3rd 2011
The 106th Illinois State Checker Tournament will be held on
April 2nd & 3rd, 2011 at the Illinois Centre Mall, which
is located near the intersection of 57 and State Highway 13 (Exit 54B), Marion,
Illinois. Registration on Saturday is from 8:00-9:00 a.m. with the business
meeting at 9:00 a.m. and playing beginning at 9:45 a.m. There will be four
rounds on Saturday and three on Sunday. I hope to have enough players for a “C”
division to attract beginners. The entry fee will be $10.00. The
American Checker Federation requires membership ($25.00) for all participants at
ACF-sanctioned
tournament. All Class “A” players must have ACF membership to play. Class “B ”
player will not be
required to have ACF or Associate membership to play this year. This tourney is usually scheduled 1st

2011 Louisiana Open Checkers Championship - April 15th & 16th
The Louisiana Open Checkers
Championship will be held on April 15 & 16, 2011 at the Stockwell Place
Elementary, 5801 Shed Rd, Bossier City, LA 71111 (map), (318)-549-5820. We will play 3 Divisions:
Children; age 12 and under, Youth Division: ages 13-17, Adult: 18-up. Minors and

The Greensboro Open Checker Tournament which is usually
scheduled 3rd weekend in April will be held at the Libby Hill Seafood
Restaurant, 3011 Randleman Road, Greensboro, NC 27406,(336)-275-7688.
We will play 3-Move - five 2 game rounds (Swiss Style) of 1 hour & 15 minutes each. $15.00 entry fee -
Registration Opens: 9:00AM - Play
begins 10:00AM - Lunch break after two rounds. (We agreed to eat
lunch with Libby Hill for the privilege of using their private room from 8:30am -
6:00pm)

Texas State & District 8 June 10th &

The Texas State and District 8 Open Tournament
will be held June 10th and 11th, beginning registration at 8:00 a.m., a short
business meeting at 8:30 am, with play starting at 9:00 am on Friday, and 8:00
a.m. on Saturday. The tournament will take place at the meeting room of the
Super 8 Motel, 910 N. Central Expressway (on Highway 75), McKinney, TX 75069
Phone # 972-548-8880. Same place as last 5 years. The room rate is $59.00
Call Faye Harvell @ 972-548-0049 for any questions. Motel management ask for
reservations to be made by June 1st if possible. This is their busiest month
(Bed are two queen size or king.) Seven rounds will be played time permitting,
4 on Friday and 3 on Saturday. The entrance fee is $25.00, ACF membership is
required $25.00 yearly or 12.50 for 6 mo., which may be paid at registration of
tournament and will be forward to ACF. We play 2 hours per round, with 5 rounds

The PA State Checker & District 3 will be held June 11th & 12th at Days Inn, 101 Alexander Spring
Road, Carlisle, PA 17015-6953 (near Harrisburg). Room rates for the tournament are non-Smoking Queen or Double Bed $66.40 + 9%
Tax (tourist tax) = $72.38.

2011 Burlington 11-Man Open June 18th 2011

Checker Tournament July 8th - 10th 2011
The 2011 Southern Checker Tournament will be held
at Lebanon, TN on July 8-10th, 2011, at the Americas Best Value Inn & Suites, In
Lebanon, TN. The inn is located on Highway 231 (822 Cumberland Street),
near I-40 (take exit 238). On Friday, July 8, registration begins at 9am
followed by a business meeting at 10am. Tournament play will begin at
11am. The tournament will consist of 8 rounds: 3 rounds on Friday, 4
rounds on Saturday, 1 round on Sunday. For reservations, call

2011 ACF National GAYP Tournament July 25th

3-Move - WTM (Borghetti vs Moiseyev) August 13th thru 23rd

The 2011 ACF National GAYP Tournament will be held in Medina, Ohio on July 26-30. All divisions will
play thirteen two-game rounds, scored by game. ACF Membership is required to
enter all divisions, and may be paid at registration. The Master’s group will
use time clocks and record games. A separate GAYP blitz National Tournament is
scheduled on July 25
which will precede the main tournament. More details later.
The tournament will be held at the Rodeway Inn & Medina Conference Center, 2875
Medina Road (same venue as for 2006 ACF National). The hotel is located 20 miles
south of Cleveland airport (CLE) on I-71, just east of the exit 218 interchange,
immediately south of where I-71 and I-271 merge. There is an alternate
Akron-Canton airport in the area. Room rates are $49.95 + tax per night (single
or double). There is also a seven-day rate (no pro-rating) for $162.12 with tax.

collection at the Cleveland Public Library while you are in the area, this would
be time well spent if you tie these together.

Registration will be handled in the playing room at the fellowship hall on
Friday morning between 8:00 - 9:00AM. A short business meeting is scheduled
following registration. Play begins 10:00AM Friday. The entry fee is $20.00. As
in the past, the tournament will be played under 3-Move opening, using the Swiss
pairing system of scoring. There will be 8 rounds of 2 games per round - 1 hour
games. 1 opening from using the 156 Deck Openings; score by games, 2 points for
a win, 1 for a draw, 3 for a bye. We will play 4 rounds Friday of 2 hours per
round - 1 round before lunch is served. Then 3 rounds afterwards. Start at 8AM
for 4 rounds Saturday - 2 rounds before lunch then break for a 1 hour lunch
served at 12:00AM, and 2 rounds afterwards, hopefully finished by 5PM permitting
adequate travel time back home. Larry Michael is our District 4 Manager who is
the sponsor/director of this tournament. Most players will still lodge at the Econo Lodge in Lexington, renamed Lexington Triad Inn (418 Piedmont Drive
336-249-0011) as last year. Our special checker player’s rate is $30.00 + tax.

miles & > 5 minutes driving time) Another hotel alternative is Holiday Inn
Express (3 star) at 351 Vineyards Crossing, Lexington (336) 244-6730 or Quality

by hotels but newer, nicer, and for more money. Lexington Triad Inn for $30, is
a great value for what you pay (1 star). Hotel Direction: I-85 from
Greensboro, exit on 96, follow US 64 West 3.5 miles to Bus 85 intersection, stay
right onto Bus 85, immediately you will see Lexington Triad Inn sign across 85
business loop on right. You should see Lexington Triad Inn tower sign and just
behind it, the Panda Panda sign. I-85 from Charlotte, take Bus 85 loop which
circles North around Lexington downtown, you should see Lexington Triad Inn sign
on left as you approach US 64 intersection.
Alabama
Open & District 5 November 11th - 12th, 2011
The 2012 Alabama Open Checker Tournament will
be held in Haleyville, AL November 9th & 10th - Friday and Saturday in the
Meeting Room at the Galley Restaurant located at 1260 11th Ave, Haleyville, AL
205-486-9620. Players will use the Imperial Inn, 1250 11th Avenue, Haleyville AL
35565 (Special rate $39.95 + tax for DB) 205-486-5205 Russ Patel - Manager. The
Motel and Restaurant are beside each other so its a short walk from your room to
the tournament. This tournament is usually scheduled 2nd weekend in November.
Registration 8:00am Friday, Welcome /Business Meeting 9:00am Play Starts at
10:00am, tournament will consist of 7 rounds: 4 rounds on Friday, 3 rounds on
